Planet Health

We live in a constantly changing world, in which everyone — consciously or not — always takes care of themselves and their health. So they choose what to eat, what type lifestyle to have and what relationships to be involved in.

Feeding humans — once a handicraft — has long turned into a multibillion-dollar industry. However, even within its environment, the "Wind of Change" started blowing. Healthy, vegan and organic items in supermarkets and fast food chains also sounded like fiction to me just 5 years ago in class at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York. But it is already a fact.

This way the choice of food remains only in the hands of each individual. The healthy choice is the obvious solution for any sane person, however this turns out not to be the case.

A week ago I took part in the forum "Planet Health" in Varna. I held a seminar there and I met a lot of interesting people. Some of them shared their upheavals on the way to better health and the disappointments they experienced. Here are the trends I came in touch with.

Diets

Many people have been disappointed by them and have found out their detrimental effects on health. I held a free consultation with a client who, having gone through Dukan diet, developed immune deficiency and viral hepatitis. A quick check at the facts reveals that it is a high-protein low-carbohydrate fad diet devised by Pierre Dukan (a former French physician and a self-proclaimed nutritionist) published in 2000, which is not nutritionally sound and carries risks to kidney and cardiovascular health.

There has beed diets and there always would be people willing to experiment with them. I have never denied their positive effect — at certain times and not on everyone — as I made my intro to the seminar. What you can’t deny is the a vast range of disadvantages and — ultimately — harms to health that simply couldn’t to be underestimated. Tens of manuscripts in the field of nutrition sit in the publishing houses’ offices waiting to be printed, only because no marketing idea, nor catchy name has been found dedicated for them yet.

The mankind must have lost much of its sanity if losing weight of one, two, ten or twenty pounds is the top priority of its existence. Superficial thinking aggressively manifested by [anti]social platforms have been committing genocide against a whole generation of people who — before appreciating their health — think the "perfect" look is achievable by dieting (while influencers are known to use the services of the plastic surgery clinics and photoshop).

Food supplement and cosmetics (FSCP)

While preparing long expeditions to remote corners of the world and the first manned space flights, nutrition laboratories have developed concentrated and synthetic food substitutes. The ambitions of marketers seeing their potential have fueled a race in manufacturing increasingly insane supplements. Using promotions and mass advertising, their users have become credulous people who take them every day and in large numbers looking for a quick fix out of their bad habits/practices leading them to overweight, poor skin, bad hair, etc. among the most common. Many cosmetic products have been going the same way.

As there are no strict requirements of testing FSCP impact on human health, as of drugs, they are readily available/largely advertised in shops, drugstores, media, networks and MLM (multi-level marketing) companies. The latter, so skillfully brainwash the people involved ("money makes the world go around"), that MLM companies look rather like financial pyramids than health line companies. And while it’s poorly sanctioned by law customers are misled by their products use.

Holistic health and medical centers

Increasingly successful segment in the healthcare field are the holistic medical centers. As they are created around a certain concept they summon more holistic practitioners and, thus, attract more patients.

At the Planet Health Forum, I had the pleasure of collaborating with the AURA International Medical Center and Elena Bahtina, MD . We are closing the loop of diagnostics and holistic healing practices. The final result is something worth admiring: a perfect and sustainable health. It was extremely nice to see people’s curiosity and interest to learn more about themselves while doing free diagnostics and consultations.
