Results from the Research Campaign: Following the Lockdown

At the beginning of the month I conducted a Research Campaign: Following the Lockdown. This Wednesday as a guest to the morning talkshow "Summer with BNT" I revealed some of the results from it. Here’s the rest.

Career and home environment interaction

  • Half of the participants lost their jobs or their amount decreased (more or less);
  • Nearly ⅔ worked mainly or only at home and this is the first time it happens to half of them;
  • Fortunately, the work environment was rarely stressful and rarely in conflict with the home environment;
  • It is wonderful that none of those asked spent their time alone in isolation. That is why personal and intimate relationships have been same or improved. The remote relationships with loved ones have signs to improve a little or at least be maintained;
  • Half of the participants reported a decline in finances, but still find it manageable without loans, where as some managed to save (40%);

Physical activity and nutrition

  • About 40% of people have reduced their physical activity, and the rest have maintained or improved it (30/30%)
  • The Internet and personal ideas turned to be the leading sources of inspiration for the active ones;
  • Eating habits were maintained or improved (70%) and this is due to the prevalence of homemade food (90%);
  • Participants mainly kept the quantity of food consumed (70%), its variety (70%) and the frequency of meals (60%)
  • There has been noticed an increase in alcohol intake in half of the participants,

Free time, rest and self-care.

  • Reading paper books has been maintained or increased (40%), but the electronic ones has mainly increased (80%)
  • Meditation practice has mainly been maintained (60%) or increased (20%).
  • Participants listened to as much (50%) or more (40%) music; ⅔ have watched more TV and 40% more online video.
  • There are no major changes in the habits of self-education and relaxing practices, such as massages and candle baths, e.g.
  • Sleep amongst 40% has decreased to some extent, but has remained high in quality (80%).
  • Most participants fell asleep late or had difficulty falling asleep.
  • Unsurprisingly, more than half of them (60%) said that stress had increased, but this did not affect overall health (90%).

Conclusion

  • The majority reported that their weight has remained (40%) or increased (40%)
  • People find themselves in good and — even — better shape;
  • Half of the participants worked out at home supported by a video, some ditched sweets and cigarettes.

The demographic profile of the participants:

  • 30-45 years - 50%
  • 46-60 - 20%
  • 61+ - 30%
  • Women vs. men 50-50%
