Five advantages of homemade food

Their advertising is very aggressive: it’s in the social media, on TV and even on the radio. And before you know, you give in to their claims that: "cooking is difficult and ordering is easy". Thus, a lie repeated over and over again, begins taking roots in your mind and your brain accepts it as true - "it's not you when you're hungry" or "order when you're hungry".

Some time ago I wrote an article about the emotional eating and the risks in feeding babies and toddlers at large for programming their fragile minds. At the time, I thought that’s all the modern man was facing, but now I see there’s more to come. It's strong and its message is so graphic — you see a fried chicken leg instead of your smartphone or a pizza instead of your tablet — those cognitive connections are beginning to blend into the mind even of an adult, conscious person.

Everyone has the right to choose and I always admit that. Even in my work, I tend to make compromises that dietitians, nutritionists and other nutritionist petitioners consider unthinkable. The difference, however, is that the Nutrition for Beauty program is a team effort and compromises could be necessary. Our perfect body easily understands when we harass it, and it begins fighting back. Sometimes even our mind may sabotage our own success. But those all are small sacrifices justified for the sake of the ultimate success.

Back to nutrition:

Here are the 5 reasons why homemade food is better and more preferable than food delivery products.

  1. You eat food according to the season.
    With an abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables this season, none or minimum cooking is recommended to prepare a meal. That allows our body more easily to thermoregulate, instead of relying on air conditioners (double-edged sword), toxic antiperspirant or other products;

  2. You know what you eat.
    It’s timidly discussed in public, but increasing number of people are becoming aware of the detrimental effect the processed food, the salt, the sugar and the flavor additives — abundant in mass-produced food — have to our health. These are just some of the factors that trigger an incredible variety of allergies and become prerequisites for degenerative diseases. When you buy your produce, you can see for yourself its origin, content and condition. Last but not least, the flavors and ingredients are only those you put in your salad, smoothie, or quiche;

  3. You know the expiration date.
    Food-Expiration
    Thanks to the concealed additives or other tricks, meals delivered to your place could’ve been reheated or "recycled" just prior your delivery. Only what you cook home and store whether in a cool place or in your fridge, you could guarantee for its freshness and expiration date.

  4. You have control over the portion size.

    From the dawn of fast food industry until today, portion sizes have more than doubled. When you eat mindfully a homemade food, you would usually consume as much as you body needs, rather than a huge pack of food and/or cup of a drink you’ve been persuaded to buy.

  5. You choose what to eat.

    The free choice is a wonderful thing. However, can anyone be sure they are not a subject of a marketing manipulation? How does the small potato bag become big, the soda cup surpass 20 oz. (⅔ litters) and the dessert you dislike turn out in your order in normal circumstances? When shopping at the local Farmer's Market, the eating begins as you choose the produce you are later placing on your table. And that's beauty the whole process.

It's all about the choice. Everyone deserves what they have because that's a result of a conscious process. Since there is no such thing as a coincidence, I manage to help the seekers and the results are never late.
