This easy to make homemade syrup intends to soothe the cough (but not suppress it). The brandy is optional and used only as preservative (up to 4 months) in it.
Cooking Time
1 hour
Ingredients
1l water;
handful of fresh thyme (100 g) or 50 g dry thyme;
250 g bee honey;
4 tbsp brandy
Directions
Bring water to boil, add the thyme, cover with a lid left slightly ajar, and reduce to simmer until liquid halves (45 minutes);
Strain the liquid from the herbs and let it cool. When just warm add honey and brandy, and whisk until smooth;
Store in a tight, dark glassed bottle, in the fridge for 4 months.
Notes
Alternative:
If alcohol is not appropriate ingredient (children, intolerance), skip the brandy and store likewise for 4 weeks
